Lamborghini finds its admirers among the well-off golden public that are eager to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on a car that offers extreme style and extreme performance. Lamborghini's worshipers live in different parts of the worlds that somewhat resembles Beverly Hills, 90210. Lamborghinis are not to be seen on the roads frequently, they are luxurious cars popular with very specialized audience. Initially based in Italy Lamborghini is involved into the competition with its home rival – Ferrari.

The history of Lamborghini's foundation is the one full of interesting and intriguing facts. Lamborghini's "father's" name was Ferruccio Lamborghini. Lamborghini's birth dates back to World War II. It was the time when Ferruccio Lamborghini served with the Italian Air Force's mechanics corps. Military service made him proficient at working with mechanics, cars and particularly engines. The war ended. Italy was partially devastated and experienced noticeable shortages. For instance, Italy lacked tractors. Ferruccio Lamborghini interpreted the situation correctly: that was the right time for the adventurous and quick-witted to go ahead. Lamborghini bought military machines that became useless after the war ended and converted them into tractors. The young entrepreneur soon became extremely wealthy and the enterprise flourished.

But Ferruccio Lamborghini did not want to stop. His business enterprise soon expanded and by 1950s it included production of heaters and air-conditioning units. But Ferruccio's heart was devoted to cars. He drove the best sports cars of the day himself and he could not leave Ferrari without attention. Nevertheless Ferruccio Lamborghini was dissatisfied by Ferrari to some extent and he promised to excel the Ferraris.

He had enough money earned from his previous business to establish automotive factory in the village of Sant'Agata. He staffed his company with the best engineers and mechanics of the day. One of them was Giotto Bizzarrini, a former employee of Ferrari.

1963 was the year when Automobili Lamborghini SpA was officially established. That same year the Turin Motor Show welcomed the first Lamborghini car. The first model was named the 350GT according to the engine size, a 3.5-liter four-cam V12. It was followed by the 400GT. But only after Miura appeared on offer in 1966 Lamborghini won the appreciation of the worldwide public.

1970s were hard years for Lamborghini SpA and its founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, had nothing more to do but sell a controlling interest of the factory to a Swiss industrialist. The forthcoming oil crisis did nothing good to the corporation and the remaining shares were outsold.

Millions were spend on developing of a new model, truck-style Cheetah, in hope to improve the situation. But the idea failed and Lamborghini declared bankruptcy.

But at 1980s Lamborghini's enterprise experienced its second birth. The underlying cause that allowed the company to bet back on its feet was new Countach. To make the company more profitable managers sold it to Chrysler.

During the 1990s Lamborghini's primary shareholder was Megatech, one of the three Far East companies that acquired Lamborghini.

In 1998 Lamborghini was acquired by Volkswagen.

The four-seat Espada, V8 sports cars, Countach and Diablo of the 1990s, modern 200-mph Murcielago and Gallardo are now easily recognizable as Lamborghini cars.
